Currently, the Renewable and Distributed Systems Integration Program (RDSI) is helping alleviate congestion, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve reliability in specific areas, such as microgrid technologies, distributed generation systems, bi-directional communications, and demand response programs. It is estimated that by 2015 the RDSI program can help reduce peak load on distribution feeders by 20%.
